World Mental Health Day 2024: Let’s Prioritize Mental Health at Work!

On November 19, 2024, CCVS put on an unforgettable celebration of World Mental Health Day, themed "It's time to prioritize mental health at workplaces." For the first time at the district level, the event was a massive hit, drawing in 468 participants, including community members, and reps from governmental and non-governmental organizations.

On November 19, 2024, CCVS put on an unforgettable celebration of World Mental Health Day, themed “It’s time to prioritize mental health at workplaces.” For the first time at the district level, the event was a massive hit, drawing in 468 participants, including community members, and reps from governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Event Highlights:

  • Objective: To shine a spotlight on workplace mental health, promote support resources, and inspire employers to prioritize employee well-being.
  • Activities: The day kicked off with an electrifying march led by a brass band from Kitgum General Hospital, followed by a lively stop at the main market to spread the word about mental health.

Speeches that Moved Us:

  • Chairman Organizing Committee: Stressed the need for a supportive work environment and open conversations about mental health.
  • Clinical Director CCVS: Shared CCVS Uganda’s impactful work and the importance of prioritizing mental health across different sectors.
  • KINGFO from ADRA: Championed mental health awareness, emphasizing its key role in overall well-being.
  • Labor Officer: Highlighted the significance of taking mental health seriously, fostering inclusivity, and providing support resources.
  • Chief Guest Representative: Shared a heartfelt story about the personal impact of mental health neglect in workplaces.

     

The day also included a series of fun and informative games and activities designed to educate participants about mental health and equip them with tools to manage workplace stress and anxiety. It was a call to action for everyone to prioritize their own mental health and support their colleagues.
